What's New 07/18/06

Well, right now I'm not doing too well.  I just got an ear infection, and now I caught that stupid stomach bug that is going around.  Mommy is taking good care of me, though.  I have been to the doctor for medicine & just this morning they gave me a shot to help my tummy feel better.  I didn't really like it that much, but I got some much needed rest afterwards, and then I started holding Pedialyte down!  Keep your fingers crossed that this keeps up!

According to "Oh Baby!  Infant Development!", this is where I should be, generally speaking:

PHYSICAL: 

Can stand up with help.    

Rolls front to side.

Lifts head 90 degrees.

Sits with arms propped.

Reaches for objects.

(So far, so good, in the Physical department!!!)

MENTAL:

Is aware that people and things have labels (mama, dada, etc.)

Starts to explore things by tasting them.

(She knows who her Mama is!  And is she really just now supposed to be tasting things?  She's been doing that for weeks!)

LANGUAGE:

Changes shape of mouth to change sounds.

Sputters.

(She is definately starting to do all of that...she talks all the time!!!)

SOCIAL:

Laughs hard when tickled.

Social gestures: moves arms to signal "pick me up".

Likes social interaction.

(She's pretty much right on target with all of this...she throws her arms out when she sees her mommy!  And she loves being around people & doing things!)

So, all in all, I suppose she is doing pretty well.  Now all we need to do it work on getting better!
